The Basic Life Support Health Care Provider Class teaches CPR skills for helping victims of all ages (including doing ventilation with a barrier device and a bag-valve mask device); use of an automated external defibrillator (AED); and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO). The class is intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a wide variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, emergency response and more. Licensed and certified health care providers (physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, dentists, dental assistants, physician's assistants, residents or fellows, or medical or nursing students in training, aides, medical or nursing assistants, police officers, and other health care personnel) will benefit from this class.
All CPR classes have the following requirements:
- Attendees must pre-register
- Registration deadline is one week prior to the class
- A minimum of three participants is needed to conduct the class
Information for all class participants:
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. You will be practicing skills that require working on your hands and knees, bending, standing, and lifting. If you have any physical conditions that might prevent these activities, please tell one of the instructors when you arrive for the course. The instructors may be able to adjust the equipment if you have back, knee, or hip problems. If you are uncertain about participating in a CPR class, please call (715) 531-6588.
